"Bangladeshi Woman Abducted in Malaysia: Victim's Press Conference"
A Bangladeshi woman was kidnapped by a group of abductors in Malaysia, who demanded ransom for her release. Malaysian police have arrested the abducting couple and rescued the victim.
The victim confirmed the incident during a press conference held on Thursday evening (June 13) at a restaurant in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Bangladeshi expatriates Md. Shihab (Passport No. B00590487) and his wife, Nupur Sultana. Both are currently in police remand. Another accomplice, TikToker Md. Hridoy, is still a deserter. The police have rescued the abducted Bangladeshi woman, Umme Raiza.
At the press conference, the victim's sister, Jannatul Naima, detailed the incident, saying, "My cousin Umme Raiza was brought to lMalaysia on a tourist visa and was kidnapped by the abductors from Kuala Lumpur Airport and taken to an unknown location. The ringleader, Md. Shihab, demanded five lakh taka over the phone. One lakh taka was initially paid through a leader of the Bangladeshi community. Shihab then demanded an additional four lakh taka, threatening to sell Umme Raiza elsewhere if the money was not paid. During this time, Shihab and his associates detained Umme Raiza for four days and subjected her to physical abuse."
Following a complaint lodged by Jannatul Naima at the Dang Wangi police station in Kuala Lumpur, the police arrested Shihab and his wife. However, TikToker Muhammad Hridoy Mia (Passport No.EK0299580) remains deserted and continues to threaten the victim. Feeling unsafe, the victim has filed a police report at the Dang Wangi station and submitted a written complaint to the Bangladeshi Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
In the press conference, Jannatul Naima further expressed, "I fear for my life and my child's life. I appeal to the Malaysian Bangladeshi community, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take notice of this matter."
