NTV Pitha Festival Held by Bangladeshi Students at UPM in Malaysia

A NTV Pitha Festival-2025 was organized by the initiative of Bangladeshi students at University Putra Malaysia (UPM) in Malaysia.
The pitha festival took place on Sunday afternoon (31st August) at the hall room of G-Tower Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Alongside students, expatriates from various professions also participated in the event.
Organized to preserve the roots, heritage, and culture of Bengalis while abroad, the pitha festival turned into a joyous gathering.
At the festival, the organizers and students displayed nearly a hundred varieties of traditional pithas (rice cakes) with diverse flavors and colorful shapes. Through these pithas, they showcased the rural culture and culinary heritage of Bengal.
The event was arranged by the Bangladeshi Students Association of University Putra Malaysia (BSAUPM).
Hosted by Md. Zubayer Hossain, a student at the International Islamic University, the event was chaired by Rashni Umaiya Ghazi, Senior Vice President of BSAUPM. Special guests included popular Bangladeshi film actor Omar Sani, actresses Simla and Suba, playback artist Tamanna Haq, and Kaysar Hamid Hannan, Vice President of the Bangladesh Community Press Club and Staff Correspondent of NTV.
Also present at the pitha festival were the organization’s advisor, SM Ashibur Hasnat Sadi, President Imran Farhad, along with students from UPM and members of committees including BIAM, BSOM, and BSUMC.
Students from over 30 universities in Malaysia attended NTV’s pitha festival. During the event, honors were awarded in recognition of the special contributions and activities of various expatriate organizations in Malaysia.
The festival, centered around Bangladeshi food, culture, and camaraderie, created a vibrant atmosphere among the expatriate Bangladeshi community. Everyone present praised the event and called for its continuation in the future.
At the cultural program, songs and dances were performed by Bangladeshi students studying at various universities in Malaysia.
The media partner for the event was NTV, a popular satellite channel from Bangladesh.
